What Discord needs from your page
- Tags it reads
- og:title, og:description, og:image and og:site_name.
- Large image
- Set <meta name="twitter:card" content="summary_large_image"> for a full-width image; otherwise it can show as a small thumbnail.
- Embed colour
- The coloured bar on the left comes from <meta name="theme-color" content="#ff6a2b">.
- Refreshing an embed
- Cached, with no user-facing refresh. A changed URL (?v=2) embeds fresh.
Questions
Why is the image in my Discord embed so small?
Discord shows a large image when the page sets twitter:card to "summary_large_image". Without it the image often appears as a thumbnail beside the text.
How do I change the colour of my Discord embed?
Add <meta name="theme-color" content="#yourcolor"> to your page. Discord uses it for the stripe on the left of the embed.
Why is Discord still showing my old embed?
Discord caches embeds and has no public way to clear them. Posting the URL with a small change, such as ?v=2, gets a fresh embed.
